Memory Makers supports care, health, hospice, dementia and wellbeing organisations to capture the stories of the people they support.
In care and health settings, it can be easy for someone’s identity to become centred around their needs, routines, diagnosis or care plan. Memory Makers helps bring the person back into focus by creating space for their memories, voice, personality, experiences and life story to be heard and preserved.
Through guided story sessions, Memory Path, Heart of a Life and access to StoryHub, organisations can help residents, patients, service users and families feel seen, heard, valued and remembered.
The process is gentle, flexible and person-centred. Conversations can explore childhood memories, family, work, places, relationships, achievements, favourite moments, funny stories, personal values, music, hobbies, advice and reflections on life. Some stories may be captured as private family keepsakes. Others may become part of wider organisational projects, short films, activity programmes, displays, memory books, family engagement work or impact reports.
Memory Makers can be delivered in different ways. The Community Story Hub CIC can personally facilitate story sessions and projects, or organisations can be supported to use StoryHub with their own teams, volunteers or activity staff. The aim is to make storytelling feel simple, meaningful and achievable, even in busy care and wellbeing environments.
For families, Memory Makers can provide a lasting record of someone’s voice, memories and character. For organisations, it can strengthen connection, improve family engagement, support reminiscence activity and help staff see more of the person behind the support they provide.
